Accessibility

Last updated: September 1, 2026

We want jobwyre to be usable by everyone, including people who navigate with a keyboard, use a screen reader, or need reduced motion. We aim for the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines as our target. We have not had an independent audit, so this is a statement of intent and current state, not a formal conformance claim.

What we've worked on

  • Designed for keyboard navigation, with a visible focus ring on interactive elements.
  • A "Skip to content" link near the top of each page.
  • Labelled landmarks (navigation, main content, footer) and a heading structure for screen readers.
  • Accessible names on icon-only buttons, and dialogs that expose a title.
  • The job board is intended to be reorderable with the keyboard, with drag actions announced to screen readers.
  • We try not to rely on colour alone to convey status.
  • Honours your operating system's "reduce motion" setting.
  • Supports browser zoom and adapts to smaller screens.

Known limitations

  • Colour contrast has not been verified against AA thresholds on every component.
  • The board's drag-and-drop is keyboard-operable but does not yet follow the full authoring-practices pattern for reordering.
  • Screen-reader behaviour has not been tested across every browser and assistive-technology combination.
  • Some marketing and admin pages have had less accessibility review than the core app.

We treat accessibility bugs the same as any other bug and fix them as they come up.

Report a barrier

If something is hard or impossible to use, please tell us. Open an issue on GitHub and describe what you were trying to do, the page or feature, and the assistive technology or browser you were using. We'll respond and prioritise a fix.
